The Clay County Tax Sale is held once a year, on the fourth Monday of August. As always, Interested parties will be able to download the listing of properties (changing daily online), access guidelines for the tax sale and pre-register for the event. Assessor introduces new online personal property reporting system
Clay County taxpayers receive an assessment form every year to report changes in their personal property records. Beginning in 2012, taxpayers can choose to report their changes (or lack thereof) online instead of having to mail back their assessment forms. A PIN number for one-time use is printed on the assessment form, and a leaflet carries instructions on how to use the site. The new online form is available through the County Assessor's web site at http://www.claycountymo.gov//assessor.
Collector extending hours for payments
The Clay County Collector will now take payments at the window until 5:00pm at the main location (1 Courthouse Square) and until 4:30pm at the Annex location. The Collector has asked that you please arrive 15 minutes prior to closing if you need a complex issue resolved, or if your issue requires services from multiple offices. Please be advised that the Collector's Office may only be able to take your information at time of closing, and complete our service of your situation on the following business day by following up with you per phone, email, or regular mail, if necessary.
Partial payments now accepted at the counter
The Clay County Collector will now accept partial payments for all outstanding tax debts. The minimum payment amount is $20. A $1 processing fee will be added to all partial payments. Interest and penalties will continue to accrue on the unpaid amount(s), and you will not be able to obtain a paid tax receipt until the debts are paid in full. Please note that at the present time, you can NOT make partial payments online.
