On June 3rd, the Clay County Commission honored and recognized the quick response of three Clay County Rangers that led to a life saved. Corporal Sean Benjamin, Ranger Melissa Mahoney, and Ranger Jeremy Monaco responded to the aide of a 55-year-old woman who was struck in the chest by a bolt of lightning while fishing in a remote area at Smithville Lake. For those that offered their thoughts and prayers, we are happy to report that the woman is home and recovering. We would like to thank our Ranger Division for their service and commitment to our citizens and park patrons.
