Commission unanimously approves payments from Domestic Violence Fund

During Clay County’s first Commission Session of 2018, the County Commission unanimously approved payments to Synergy House, Inc. from the county’s Domestic Violence Fund.

Synergy House, Inc. is a short-term emergency shelter that serves young people ages 12-18 who are in crisis due to abuse, neglect, running away, abandonment, and homelessness. They have three facilities in Clay County: Synergy House, Children’s Center, and Youth Resiliency Center.

Clay County’s Domestic Violence Fund is generated from authorized court fees pursuant to RSMo 488.607. The Domestic Violence Advisory Board makes recommendations to the County Commission concerning the payment of available funds to qualifying agencies that provide operating expenses for shelters in Clay County. The vote to approve Synergy House, Inc. as recipient of these funds passed 3-0.

Applications for agencies to receive payment from the Domestic Violence Fund are due by October 1st each year to the Domestic Violence Advisory Board or the County Commission. Please inquire to or 816-407-3600.
