Wildlife Habitat

Each year, following the holiday season, Christmas trees can be dropped off at a designated location within the
Park to eventually become new homes for wildlife in and around Smithville Lake. About 400 trees are collected each year and during the month of April volunteers and Park staff will bundle and distribute the trees to certain areas for fish and wildlife habitat. These Christmas tree bundles provide habitat for many game and non-game species of wildlife.
