Introduction

The Clay County Park Ranger Division was established in 1982, shortly after the impoundment of Smithville Lake.  In the beginning, there were three volunteer Park Rangers, since then the Division has grown to seven full-time commissioned law enforcement Park Rangers, one part-time Park Ranger, and a fulltime Records Clerk.  The Park Rangers serve and protect the Citizens and Park Patrons who utilize all the Clay County Parks, Historical Sites, Recreational Areas, and Trails.
