Job Information

The Clay County Highway Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Highway Operator I. The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional level tasks in the construction and maintenance of county roadways. The Operator I will operate light equipment, trucks and other vehicles and equipment and may on occasion operate heavy equipment to accomplish assigned tasks. Operator I may lead a work crew in the absence of an Operator II and will assist in on-the-job training of other employees. The position will work Monday through Thursday 10 hour days and will be on-call for after-hours emergencies. Please have the position minimally requirement of a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.  (Class A CDL also acceptable.)

Starting Salary: $16.52 - $18.28/hour, plus Benefits - Clay County offers a great benefit package to regular full and part-time employees including two defined benefit retirement plans fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 6% contributed.
