Clay County Missouri is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Technician II for our highway department. The GIS Technician II is responsible for developing and maintaining geographic information systems (GIS) database and coordinating functions of the Highway GIS systems and Highway asset management software. The GIS Technician II will edit, compile and analyze geographic data for various applications, extracting information from base data such as orthophotography and other documentation to create GIS layers and generate maps using spatial analysis skills and appropriate symbology. This individual will work independently coordinating integration of GIS systems and asset management software and maintaining records, backups and appropriate documentation to support GIS related activities.

An Associate’s degree or equivalent course work at a technical or vocations school in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geography, civil engineering, computer science or related field is required. Along with two to three years of increasingly responsible related experience (coursework and internships included) using ArcGIS or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.  Although, a Bachelor’s degree is preferred as is prior County or City government experience and familiarity with Cityworks software.

Starting salary of $19.00 - $23.00 per hour. Clay County offers a great benefit package to regular full and part-time employees including defined benefit retirement plan fully funded by the County.
