Job Information

Clay County Missouri is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Detention for the R. Kenneth Elliott Children's Justice Center. The Assistant Superintendent of Detention is responsible for assisting in the enforcement and administration of the juvenile detention center. The employee is expected to exercise supervision over detention employees while working with some degree of independence and reporting directly to the Superintendent of Detention. The position will require public speaking, responding to on-call duties, community/interagency networking, and participating in training or other out-of-county trips with overnight stays. This individual will need familiarity with Juvenile Court and procedures, state law and county policy; knowledge of statutes and laws regarding juvenile detention; experience with crisis interventions, and the ability to interact effectively and courteously with juveniles, family members and other parties.

A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field is required. Along with a valid driver's license and liability insurance.  

Starting salary of $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 annually. Clay County offers a great benefit package to regular full and part-time employees including defined benefit retirement plan fully funded by the County.
