Kelsey Short Youth Camp

Kelsey Short Youth Group Camp, located within the Kelsey Short Outdoor Education Campus, is on the East side of Smithville Lake, in Clay County Park, off Collins Road. The area is divided into three large camping areas with plenty of wooded space between each site. The sites are available to youth groups by reservation only. Any youth group wishing to enjoy the great outdoors in a natural setting may contact the Clay County Park Office at (816) 407-3400 for details on reserving an area. 

 

Area 2Kelsey Short Area 2 -164 SMALL.jpg Located closest to the beach on the south side of Kelsey Short with good access to the lake.  The parking area is rocked and will accommodate approximately 25 cars. There is a shelter located  100 yards from the parking area with six picnic tables, two ground grills, and a water faucet.  Pit latrines are nearby.  Trash barrels are provided throughout the area.

Area 3– Located in the northern part of the Kelsey
Short Youth Camp within a wooded area. Parking
area will accommodate approximately 20 cars. There
is a shelter located  75 yards from the parking area
with six picnic tables, one ground grills and a water faucet. Pit latrines are nearby. Trash barrels are
provided throughout the area.

Area 4– Located at the farthest east, or the tip,
of the Kelsey Short Youth Camp area.  The parking
area will accommodate approximately 25 cars. There
is ashelter located 300 yards from the parking area with six picnic tables, one ground grills, and a water faucet. 
Pit latrines are nearby.  Trash barrels are provided
throughout the area.

Areas 2, 3 & 4              $70

*Maximum of 20 people, each additional person over 20 is $3.50 per person
