Building Commission

The Clay County BC is constituted by the Missouri State Revised Statutes (RSMo) Chapter 64, more specifically 64.170 thru and including 64.205.

The main duty of the BC is to hold public hearings to discuss and ultimately recommend either approval or denial of the County's electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building codes persuant to the aforementioned sections of RSMo.

Schedule
The BC typically only meets as needed when the review of newly released codes becomes necessary.  Per RSMo 64.180, the BC must hold 3 public hearings prior to forwarding their recommendations on to the County Commission.  When the BC does meet, they will be in the Commission Hearing Room, 3rd Floor, Administration Building (Old Courthouse Building) at One Courthouse Square, Liberty, MO 64068.  This schedule may vary on occasion, so the public is encouraged to verify the date and time of upcoming BC meetings by contacting the Clay County Planning & Zoning Department at (816) 407-3380 or E-mail.

The BC consists of a total of 5 members made up of residents and taxpayers within Clay County, one of whom shall be a member of the County Commission.  Staff support is provided by the Clay County Planning & Zoning Department.
