Friends of the James Farm annual reunion & events

 

Saturday, June 8th at the Jesse James Farm & Museum from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm.  

8:30 - 9:00 a.m.           Registration

9:00 - 9:30 a.m.           Guest speaker Marty McGrane: Civil War events in Independence, Missouri

10:00 a.m.                   Bus tour of Independence.  

Sites include: Grave sites of Anna and Frank James, Hill Park Cemetery The 1859 Jail & Marshal’s Museum, sites of First Battle of Independence, occurring on August 11, 1862, involving William C. Quantrill’s guerillas, the Second Battle of Independence, part of the Battle of Westport, fought October 21–22, 1864.

12 p.m.                        Lunch in Independence, buy or bring your own lunch

1:30 p.m.                     Bus returns to the James Farm

3:00 - 4:00 p.m.           Guest speaker Barbara Hughes: Mourning During the Civil War

Barbara Hughes portrays Amanda Pine Stout, a woman in mourning for her brother who died in the Civil War. The PowerPoint presentation deals with the 19th century view of mourning and the impact the war had on mourning.

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.           Friends of the James Farm general membership meeting

5:30 - 6:00 p.m.           Social hour

6:00 - 8:00 p.m.           Dinner

6:30 - 8:00 p.m.           Entertainment -- Wild Wood Boys
