On Thursday, July 6, 2023, Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed Senate Bill 190 into law. Under the new law, property tax rates could be frozen for Social Security, retirement-eligible Missourians. It is up to each individual county government to opt into participating in this tax relief for eligible seniors.
On Thursday, October 12, 2023, the Clay County Commission heard an updated presentation regarding research done by the Commissioner Lead Committee for the potential implementation of Senate Bill 190. The ordinance presented to commissioners on the 12th was for discussion purposes and may not necessarily reflect the exact version ultimately adopted.
