Internship Timeline


Phase 1 (Approximately one week)

  • Familiarization with work stations, coworkers and county personnel policies
  • Assignment of tasks


Phase 2 (Approximately two weeks)

  • Semester project assignments based on skill set and availability
  • Daily tasks should be maintained


Phase 3 (Approximately four weeks)

  • Students will be asked to accompany elected officials to events and meetings as needed
  • Students will give update to Intern Manager on semester projects
  • Additional projects may be assigned


Phase 4 (Approximately eight weeks)

  • Interns will be tasked with developing solutions to a "problem facing local government" and should expect to make a presentation to Intern Manager during this phase


Phase 5 (3 weeks from end of program)

  • Interns should be prepared to present semester projects to Commission team, as well as their proposed solution to a "problem facing government"
