Northland Internship Program

Clay County Presiding Commissioner Pam Mason, along with Eastern District Commissioner Luann Ridgeway and Western District Commissioner Gene Owen, introduce a new partnership with regional schools: the Northland Internship Program.

Fall 2013 applicants should submit their information no later than September 1, 2013.

This county internship experience gives high school and college students an opportunity to be directly involved in building a local government that responds quickly and effectively to Clay County residents. Students can expect:

  • Frequent interaction with county elected officials,
  • Daily communication and supervision by Commission Department Heads,
  • Opportunities to research issues facing county government and propose outside-the-box solutions,
  • Networking with state, county and city officeholders as well as faith-based and other not-for-profit groups benefiting Northland residents, and
  • No working day to be the same as the previous.
  • Local government is fast-paced, challenging and affords students with a wealth of practical experience and meaningful business relationships as well as a chance to affect how our government works.
