Earlier today the Clay County Commission served Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway with a lawsuit seeking a declaratory judgment determining the scope of her constitutional authority. The Commission took this action to protect County taxpayers from footing the bill for the Auditor’s unconstitutional actions. Continued...

On Monday, December 18, the Missouri State Auditor’s staff addressed Clay County officeholders and citizens with preliminary remarks about the scope and process of the audit. The Auditor’s office will conduct a comprehensive performance audit that will include elected offices and departments as chosen by the State Auditor. Continued...

Today’s Public Comment Period, scheduled for February 15 at 4:00PM has been cancelled due to the inclimate weather. 

 

Clay County Departments Double Down Against Winter Weather

CCSnowIce.jpgSnow, freezing rain, and prolonged frigid temperatures and wind chills have affected the metro area, challenging the faculty of many organizations to maintain normal hours and operations. During periods of severe winter weather, several Clay County departments are tasked not only with standard duties, but with the extra responsibility to keep employees and citizens safe despite the conditions. The Clay County Commission balanced the 2019 Adopted Budget on Monday, January 28, 2019.

The budget process requires cooperation between the finance staff, elected officeholders, outside agencies, and departmental leaders. The 2019 Adopted Budget prioritizes core government services in this order: public safety; safe, smooth roadways; essential public services; and clean, accessible parks.
